About our guest – John Whitwell

John began his career in child care at the pioneering Cotswold Community becoming the principal in 1985. During his time here John worked alongside inspirational colleagues and consultants such as Richard Balbernie, Barbara Dockar-Drysdale and Isabel Menzies Lyth. Following this John became the managing director of the UK’s first independent fostering agency (Integrated Services Programme) developing therapeutic care in family setting settings. He qualified as a Group Psychotherapist and was a member of the British Psychotherapy Foundation and a trustee of Gloucester Counselling Service, the Planned Environment Trust and the Mulberry Bush Organisation.
